Intro to Racing Seminar

Ages 12+ (Instructor approval required prior to registration-contact Amy Usher at 630-272-4023). Advanced 10-12 years olds will also be considered. 

Times: 2-5 pm on June 26th, July 3rd, July 17th

Program Cost:

• Members $96/seminar

• Non-members $120/seminar

Let’s bring racing back to Diamond Lake!  The introduction to racing 3 hour seminar is for youth sailors who have successfully completed a minimum of one session of afternoon sailing class and shown proficiency in basic sailing skills or has been recommended by an instructor. These students are ready to take independent sailing to the next level, have interest in participating in races on or off our lake, or want to participate in racing at their middle or high schools. Instructor approval is required for the class.  

 

Students will continue to improve their sailing skills while they learn basic racing skills through drills and actual racing. Racing rules, tactics, boating safety and FUN are emphasized. Instruction will be led by experienced sailboat racers. Sailors will be encouraged to participate in a few local regattas. 

 

All students will always wear life jackets.  Instructors, either in the student's boat or on a safety boat, accompany the students.  All instructors are experienced sailors.  All have learned to sail in the DLYC Sailing School.

The DLYC is offering a limited number of scholarships for youths who need financial
