Monday Night Sunfish Sail & Race

Sailors from 12 years of Age and older. Sailors expected to have some sailing experience.
Times: Monday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. *race starting at 6:30. Check calendar on website for weeks offered.
Program Cost: Cost are per participant. Member discount will be applied with member code.

$20.00 per session (borrow Sunfish, instruction and race)
$15.00 per session (bring own Sunfish, instruction and race)
$10.00 per sessions (bring own Sunfish and race only)

 

Sailboat used: Sunfish.

Four club Sunfish are available on a first come first serve basis starting at 5:00pm.
Others encouraged to bring their own boats.

 

The Monday Sunfish Sail will be open to members of the DLYC and non-members interested in improving their sailing skills and interested in getting involved in sailboat racing. All activities will take place at the DLYC waterfront. The activity will begin with instruction and will be centered around the introduction to sailboat racing. During instruction time, participants will be expected to take part in all of the activity that goes into a successful race. These may include rigging, derigging, launch, racing and retrieving the sailboat.

Races will start at approximately 6:30 and will be structured around learning or improving sailing skills and having an enjoyable experience and less about race placement. Respect for the other sailors and equipment is a fundamental requirement for participation. Experienced sailors will be present and will be available for assistance.

Those that have racing experience and do not require instruction may join at the start line to participate in the race at approximately 6:30. Registration is still required.

All participants will wear life jackets. A waiver will be required prior to the start of the event. Weather will be called prior to the start of the evening to assure that unsafe conditions are not present.
